About Artek Electrical

01
Who is Artek Electrical?

Artek Electrical is a family-run firm led by Alan, based at Sheering just outside Bishop's Stortford, and trading for over 20 years. We're an NICEIC Approved Contractor and Part P registered, covering London, Essex and Hertfordshire, with a 5.0 rating across seven Google reviews.

Do you cover both homes and businesses?

Yes. We carry out domestic and commercial work — from an emergency fault or a home rewire to shopfitting, new builds, commercial electrical and PAT testing. The same approved contractor and the same standard apply to both.

Is Artek a genuine family business?

Yes. Artek Electrical Ltd is a real registered company (No. 13890249), led by director Alan Bissell with Kim Bissell running the office. It's the same family behind the quote, the work and the paperwork — not a call-centre passing you to a stranger.

What area do you cover?

We're based at Sheering, Bishop's Stortford, and work across London, Essex and Hertfordshire — including Harlow, Loughton, Epping, Chingford and the towns around them. If you're not sure whether you're in range, call and ask.

Booking & on the day

02
How do I arrange a job?

Call the office on 01279 734379, ring the mobile on 07915 376913, email info@artek-electrical.com, or use the contact form. Tell us what you need — an emergency, a quote, an EICR, a rewire — and we'll book a time that works for you.

How quickly can you attend an emergency?

For urgent problems, calling is always fastest — we answer around the clock Monday to Friday. One customer called with an emergency and had an electrician attend and rectify it within the hour, which is exactly what we aim for.

What are your hours?

We're open 24 hours Monday to Friday, Saturday 6:30am to 5:00pm, and Sunday 8:30am to 6:00pm — so a fault outside normal working hours doesn't have to wait.

Who actually comes to do the work?

Artek's own family-led team, under Alan. Because we don't send strangers, whoever attends works to the same NICEIC-assessed standard, with the same certification at the end.

Will the work be tidy and low-fuss?

That's what our reviewers highlight — 'promptly and politely with the minimum of fuss', 'got on with it, no time wasting'. We turn up when we say we will, work cleanly, and leave your home or premises as we'd want ours left.

Credentials & standards

03
What does NICEIC Approved Contractor actually mean for me?

The NICEIC is the UK's leading electrical certification body. Approved Contractor status is earned through a regular on-site assessment of our real work against BS 7671 — it isn't a badge you can buy. It means the person working on your property has been independently assessed against the national standard.

What does Part P registered mean?

As an approved contractor we're Part P registered, so notifiable electrical work in your home is self-certified to Building Regulations and notified to Building Control through us — with no separate building-control inspection and no separate fee.

What is BS 7671?

BS 7671 is the British Standard for electrical installations — the national wiring regulations your certificate is measured against. Everything we install is designed and tested to it.

Is your work certified?

Yes. Depending on the job you'll receive an installation certificate, a minor works certificate, or an EICR — your proof the work meets current regulations. The documentation is handed over on completion for you to keep.

Services & certificates

04
Do you carry out EICRs and landlord certificates?

Yes. We carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports and periodic inspections to BS 7671 for landlords meeting their legal obligations, homeowners who want certainty, and homebuyer surveys — explaining any findings clearly rather than leaving you with a page of codes.

Can you do a full house or kitchen rewire?

Yes. Full electrical rewiring, kitchen rewires and new circuits are a core part of what we do — installed to current BS 7671 regulations, planned around you to keep disruption down, and self-certified to Part P where notifiable.

Do you install EV chargers, CCTV and door entry?

Yes. Home and workplace EV charging points, CCTV systems, door entry, data networking and the low-voltage side of a modern property — all installed and terminated properly by the same approved contractor doing your power and lighting.

Can you take on commercial and shopfitting work?

Yes. Shopfitting, commercial electrical, new builds, extensions and conversions, air conditioning power and new lighting schemes — designed, installed and certified to BS 7671 and planned around your build programme or trading hours.

Quotes, documentation & getting in touch

05
What documentation will I receive?

Where the work is notifiable or requires certification, you'll receive the relevant certificate — installation, minor works, or an EICR — handed over on completion. It's the traceable record you can pass to a buyer, insurer or landlord's agent.

How do I get a quote?

Send us the details — call 01279 734379, ring the mobile, email, or use the contact form. A clear quote before any work begins is something our customers highlight, and it's how every job starts.

How quickly will you get back to me?

We answer the phone around the clock Monday to Friday, so calling is always fastest for anything urgent. Emails and form enquiries are picked up by Kim in the office and answered as quickly as we can.
