Outside lighting · sockets · garden schemes

Outdoors, powered and lit.

Outside lighting is where electrical work meets the way you actually use your garden after dark. Done well it's barely noticeable by day and transforms a space at night — grazing a wall, marking a path safely underfoot, lighting a patio you can sit out on. We design each scheme around your garden, install the outdoor sockets and power to go with it, and wire and certify the lot to the same BS 7671 standard as the rest of our work.

Two ways we work outdoors.

Low-voltage lighting for atmosphere, mains power for sockets and security — both weatherproofed to survive British weather and certified to BS 7671.

Low-voltage garden lighting

01

Where a scheme is about atmosphere — beds, borders, trees and steps — we usually run it on a 12V low-voltage system from a transformer in a protected enclosure. It's safe to work around planting, easy to extend later, and lets us place small, discreet fittings exactly where the light is wanted rather than where a mains cable can reach.

Mains power, security & sockets

02

For outdoor sockets, floodlighting, security lighting and power to a workshop or outbuilding, we run proper mains circuits — RCD-protected, weatherproofed with the right IP-rated fittings and glands, and certified. The practical, harder-working side of outdoor electrics that has to stand up to British weather.

How we light a garden.

01

Run safely, RCD protected

Outdoor circuits are RCD protected and, where it suits, run at 12V low voltage from a transformer in a protected enclosure — safe to work around beds and borders, and installed to BS 7671 like every other circuit we touch.

02

Layered, not floodlit

We light in layers — a graze up a wall, a marker at a step, a pool of light on a patio — so the effect is atmospheric rather than a car park. The fittings do the work; you rarely see the source.

03

Specified to last outdoors

Sealed, IP-rated fittings and proper weatherproof connectors are chosen because they survive British weather. Cabling is buried and protected, joints are made in proper enclosures, not wrapped in tape.

04

Designed around your garden

Every scheme is planned around your planting, levels and how you actually use the space — patio, path, entrance — and adjusted on site after dark, because that's the only time you can truly see it.
